Named after the soil
The Blackland Prairie is the belt of deep black clay Dallas was built on. It is some of the richest farmland in Texas and some of the most difficult ground in the country to build pavement over. We took the name because that soil defines the job.
Our story
A local company with modern systems
Blackland Asphalt is family owned and based in Dallas-Fort Worth. We are not a franchise, we do not have a national call center, and we do not chase work outside North Texas. Every crew lead and estimator here works on the same soil every day.
What we do have is the systems side that used to only come with the big national outfits: pavement inventories, condition scoring, photo documentation, multi-year forecasts and reporting your owner or board can actually read. Old-school work ethic, current-decade record keeping.
We stay commercial. Retail centers, office parks, HOAs, churches, schools and industrial properties are what we are set up for, and what our scheduling, phasing and traffic control are built around.
Service philosophy
Programs, not one-off bids
We tell you no
If an overlay will not hold, we say so before you spend the money. If a lot has five good years left, we will not sell you a resurfacing this year. Turning down work is the fastest way to earn a portfolio.
We plan in years
Pavement is an asset with a life curve, not an emergency. Our proposals show what happens in year one, three and five, and what each option costs per year of life gained.
We document
Every assessment comes with photos, measurements and a condition score, so the recommendation is something you can hand to an owner instead of something you have to defend from memory.
